Description
Lonicera ccaerulea 'Ruth' is also called mayberry or honeyberry. The name refers to the Russian island of Kamchatka where the honeyberry naturally occurs.
Unpretentious plant that is resistant to many diseases and pests. Blooms in early spring, so watch out for frost. In May the blue-black, oval, edible berries are formed that are rich in vitamin B and C.
Self-pollinating, but with other conspecifics nearby the plant will produce more berries.
The blossom is loved by bees and the berries by birds.
