This Rubus illecebrosus plant originates from Japan. It is a tasty strawberry-raspberry species that grows as a ground cover.
The fruits resemble raspberries but are larger, deliciously juicy and fresh-sweet. Both the beautiful red fruits and the beautiful white flowers also give this plant a high ornamental value. The plant does not grow higher than about 1 to 1.5 meters and is winter-hardy to -25 degrees.
There are small thorns on the branches but the beautiful fruit with delicious taste makes up for this! In winter the plants seem to disappear but in spring they come back surprisingly quickly.
