Primula denticulata 'Alba', also called Bullet Primrose or Key Flower, is a cheerful and easy plant that brightens up your garden in spring. From March to May, it blooms with large, globular clusters of small, snow-white flowers that have a sunny yellow interior. These flowers are on sturdy, thin stems and contrast nicely with the sturdy, green leaves that grow in a rosette. The plant grows 15-25 cm high and about 20 cm wide, perfect for placing at the front of a border, in a planter or in a rock garden.
This Keyflower grows compactly and spreads slowly, making it ideal for groups in borders or along edges. Plant 24-26 per square metre for a nice, full effect, especially together with daffodils, tulips or hyacinths for a colourful spring picture. It also combines well with grasses or other perennials. It likes a spot in the sun or semi-shade and grows best in cool, humus-rich soil that is not too dry, but not too wet either - good watering is important. Near the edge of a pond or in a pot on your balcony, it will also do fine.
In terms of care, it is simple: water regularly, but make sure no puddles remain. After flowering, cut away the old stems down to the ground, so it stays neat and can make new flowers. This hardy plant brings a fresh, romantic atmosphere to your garden and is a real eye-catcher in spring. Perfect for those looking for an easy, white spring bloomer!
