Immediate results and production
These ‘old’ pear trees provide instant mature structure, character and yield in the garden; full-grown specimens in spacious pots, ready for immediate planting.
The Pyrus communis ‘Bonne Louis’ (also known as Bonne Louise d’Avranches) is a classic, high-quality variety of hand-picked pear, known for its sweet, soft and aromatic fruits. The pears have a fine texture, a light pink blush and a characteristically full flavour. This old pear tree is supplied at a height of approximately 2 metres, raised in a 45 litre pot at rootstock BA29. This rootstock provides a medium growth, good fruit set and a tree that is sturdy and performs exceptionally well in most gardens.
The Bonne Louis blooms in spring with pure white blossoms that attract lots of bees. The harvest follows in the late summer to early autumn, with the tree producing medium-sized, elegant pears that are perfect for eating fresh, but are also suitable for desserts, stewing and preserving. The variety is not self-pollinating, which is why a suitable pollinator is recommended, such as ‘Conference’, ‘Beurré Hardy’ or ‘Doyenné du Comice’.
This pear tree is hardy, resistant to the Dutch climate and grows best on a sunny, fertile and well-drained soil. Thanks to the BA29 rootstock, the tree is easy to prune into shape, produces a reliable crop and offers an excellent balance between growth and yield. As it is already mature, the tree makes an immediate impact and bears fruit quickly.
For safe transport, these heavy trees are shipped on a pallet.
