This set contains four different blackberry varieties: 'Black Satin', 'Thornless Evergreen', 'Triple Crown' and 'Tayberry'. Each Blackberry has a height of 25 cm and comes in a 9 cm pot.
Rubus fruticosus 'Black Satin': A thornless blackberry that produces delicious juicy fruits. These black fruits are large and have an excellent flavour. They are suitable for direct consumption and can also be used in pies. This blackberry thrives in a sunny spot and can also grow in semi-shade. Flowering occurs in May-June, followed by fruiting from July to September. With proper care and annual pruning, a good harvest can be expected. This blackberry is very hardy and can withstand temperatures down to -28 degrees Celsius. It is not susceptible to diseases and needs little fertilisation.
Rubus fruticosus 'Thornless Evergreen': This thornless blackberry bears fruit from July to October. The fruits need plenty of sun and time to ripen. In autumn, they can be harvested and used for jam, liqueur or juice. This blackberry grows best on loamy soil and feels at home in a sheltered place. In case of frost, it is advisable to cover the plants.
Rubus fruticosus 'Triple Crown': This relatively new, thornless blackberry variety stands out on several fronts. It is highly productive with large, tasty fruits. The strong stems are well resistant to diseases and frost. The fruits are quite large and have a nice colour. They are easy to pick and can be eaten fresh or processed into jams, wines and desserts, for example. This blackberry is not susceptible to diseases and needs little fertilisation.
Rubus 'Tayberry': A cross between blackberry and raspberry. Slightly thorny, with large, deep red fruits twice the size of raspberries. They have a sweet-sour flavour and can be used for juice, garnish or direct consumption. Harvest time is in July-August. This plant thrives best in a sunny position and old branches should be pruned regularly.
