Beschrijving
The Rubus idaeus 'Glen Coe' is a unique and eye-catching raspberry with beautiful deep-purple fruit. This particular cross between a red and black raspberry produces not only visually impressive berries, but also a full, mildly sweet flavour. The fruits are relatively small but firm and very suitable for fresh consumption, garnishing or processing in jams and desserts.
'Glen Coe' is partly thornless, which makes picking extra pleasant, also for children. The shrub grows vigorously, remains compact (up to about 1.5 metres), and is therefore also suitable for smaller gardens or against a rack or fence. You harvest these summer raspberries in July, over a short, intense period.
Although the yield is lower than production varieties, choose Glen Coe mainly for its rare colour and flavour. Plant it preferably on a well-drained, slightly acidic soil in sun or semi-shade. This raspberry is self-pollinating and hardy to around -20°C.
