These ‘old’ quince trees provide instant mature structure, character and yield in the garden; fully grown specimens in spacious pots, ready for immediate planting.
The Cydonia oblonga ‘Lescovacka’ is a traditional and highly prized Eastern European quince variety known for its large, aromatic and exceptionally fragrant fruits. The pears are broad and pear-shaped, firm and have an intense aroma that comes into its own in jellies, jams, stews and the classic membrillo. This old quince tree is supplied at a height of approximately 2 metres, raised in a 45 litre pot at rootstock BA29. This rootstock provides a medium growth, excellent root development and a reliable annual yield.
The Lescovacka blooms in spring with large, pale pink to white flowers that attract lots of bees. Harvesting takes place in the autumn, with the tree bearing large, firm and aromatic quinces that are popular with both amateur cooks and professional chefs. The Lescovacka is self-pollinating, making it particularly suitable for planting on its own.
This quince is hardy, robust and well-suited to the Dutch climate. It grows best in a sunny, fertile and well-drained soil. Thanks to the BA29 rootstock, the tree grows in a stable, even manner and remains easy to manage. As the tree is already mature, it provides an immediate return and instantly adds character to the garden.
For safe transport, these heavy trees are shipped on a pallet.
