The Cydonia oblonga ‘Vranja’ is the best-known and most popular quince variety in Europe, famous for its large, fragrant, golden-yellow fruits. The quinces have firm flesh and an intense aroma, making them ideal for making jelly, jam, stews and the traditional membrillo. This old quince tree is supplied at a height of approximately 2 metres, raised in a 45 litre pot at Kwee A rootstock. This rootstock gives a medium growth, a well-controlled crown and a reliable annual yield.

The Vranja blooms in spring with large, pale pink to white blossoms that attract lots of bees. The harvest takes place in the autumn, with the tree producing large, aromatic quinces which develop their full, rich flavour once cooked. This variety is known for its high yield, strong growth and excellent disease resistance. The Vranja is self-pollinating and therefore suitable for planting as a single specimen.

This quince is hardy, hardy and ideally suited to the Dutch climate. It grows best in a sunny, fertile and well-drained soil. Thanks to the Kwee A rootstock, growth remains well under control and the tree develops a strong, healthy crown. As it is already mature, it produces fruit straight away and adds a mature, distinctive touch to the garden.
