Immediate results and production
These ‘old’ apple trees add instant appeal, structure and production to the garden; mature specimens in spacious pots, ready to be planted.
The Malus domestica ‘Sweet Emgaard’ is a traditional Dutch apple variety loved for its smooth, sweet taste and aromatic flesh. The apples are ideal for eating fresh, but also suitable for light processing such as compotes or desserts. This old apple tree is a mature specimen of about 2 metres high, grown in a spacious 45 litre pot at rootstock M111. This rootstock is known for its strong root system, excellent durability and vigorous, healthy growth.
Sweet Emgaard blooms in spring with soft pink-white blossoms that attract many bees. Harvesting follows in the late summer to early autumn, with the tree producing beautiful pale yellow to pale pink apples with a distinct sweet aroma. The variety is self-pollinating, but gives higher yields when combined with varieties such as ‘Elstar’, ‘Notarisappel’ or ‘Groninger Kroon’.
The tree is hardy, resistant to the Dutch climate and grows best on a sunny, fertile and well-drained soil. Due to its mature age, this tree provides immediate yields and immediately adds body and character to the garden.
For safe transport, these heavy trees are shipped on a pallet.
