Immediate results and production
These ‘old’ plum trees provide instant mature structure, character and yield in the garden; full-grown specimens in ample pots, ready for immediate planting.
The Prunus domestica 'Hauszwetsche' is a classic central European plum variety known for its elongated, deep blue plums with a sweet, aromatic taste and firm flesh. The fruit detaches easily from the stone, making it particularly suitable for fresh use, baking, jam and making plum liqueur. This old plum tree comes at a height of approx. 1.5 metres, raised in a 45 litre pot at St Julien rootstock. This rootstock provides a medium growth, a stable root system and a manageable tree that produces reliably.
Hauszwetsche blooms in spring with white blossoms that are richly visited by bees. Harvesting follows in the late summer, where the tree bears richly with firm flesh that retains its flavour even after processing. This variety is self-pollinating, making it very suitable for solitary plantings.
This plum tree is hardy, resistant to the Dutch climate and grows best on a sunny location with a nutritious, well-drained soil. The St Julien rootstock creates a balanced tree with a good balance between growth and yield. Due to its mature age, the tree can bear fruit quickly and gives an immediate appearance to the garden.
For safe transport, these heavy trees are shipped on a pallet.
