Immediate results and production
These ‘old’ pear trees provide instant mature structure, character and yield in the garden; full-grown specimens in spacious pots, ready for immediate planting.
The Pyrus communis 'Triomphe de Vienne' is a classic French pear variety known for its large, juicy and aromatic fruits with a soft, rich flavour. The pears have an elegant, elongated shape and a golden-green colour with a warm blush. This variety is known as an excellent hand pear, but is also good for desserts. This old pear tree comes at a height of about 2 metres, raised in a 45 litre pot at rootstock Kwee Adams. This rootstock provides a medium growth, a well-controlled crown and reliable fruit set.
The Triomphe de Vienne blooms in spring with pure white blossoms that attract many bees. The harvest falls in the late summer to early autumn, where the tree produces large, soft and aromatic pears with a full, sweet flavour. The variety is not self-pollinating, making a suitable pollinator desirable, such as ‘Beurré Hardy’, ‘Conference’ or ‘Bonne Louis’.
This pear tree is hardy and excellently adapted to the Dutch climate. It grows best on a sunny, fertile and well-drained soil. Rootstock Kwee Adams provides a nice balance between growth and production, with a tree that remains manageable and bears reliably every year. Thanks to its mature age, this tree delivers fruit almost immediately and gives instant body to the garden.
For safe transport, these heavy trees are shipped on a pallet.
