Immediate results and production
These ‘mature’ nashi pear trees immediately bring a sense of maturity, character and fruit to the garden; fully-grown specimens in spacious pots, ready to be planted straight away.
The Pyrus pyrifolia ‘Chojuro’ is a classic Asian pear variety known for its round, bronze-coloured fruits with a fresh, sweet and slightly caramelised flavour. Its firm, crisp texture makes this Nashi pear ideal for eating fresh, in salads and in desserts. This mature Nashi pear tree is supplied at a height of approximately 2 metres, raised in a 45 litre pot at rootstock P.C. (Pyrus communis). This rootstock provides a moderate but robust growth, excellent hardiness and a reliable annual yield.
The Chojuro blooms in spring with fragrant white blossoms that attract many bees. The harvest takes place in the late summer to early autumn, with the tree producing large quantities of firm, round fruit with a beautiful orange-bronze skin and a sweet, distinctive flavour. The variety is not self-pollinating and produces the highest yield when grown alongside other Asian pears, such as ‘Nijisseiki’, ‘Hosui’ or ‘Kosui’.
This nashi pear tree is hardy, versatile and very well suited to the Dutch climate. It grows best in a sunny, fertile and well-drained soil. Thanks to the P.C. rootstock, the tree develops healthy, even growth with a strong crown structure. Its mature size ensures immediate production and gives the garden a mature look.
For safe transport, these heavy trees are shipped on a pallet.
