Discover the timeless elegance of Astilbe arendsii ‘Erika’, a hardy spirea that will transform your garden with its lush beauty. This perennial, also known as the ‘beautiful spirea’, grows to a height of 80 to 100 cm and flowers from June to July with panicles of light pink to fuchsia-pink flowers. Originally native to East Asia and developed in the 1950s by Carl Arends in Germany, this classic combines graceful flowers with hardiness and ease of cultivation.
‘Erika’ thrives in partial shade and requires humus-rich, moisture-retaining soil that never dries out – mulch the soil with wood chips or leaves for optimal growth. Perfect for shady spots where other plants struggle, this hardy beauty brings colour and life to borders or group plantings. After four years, you can divide the plant to maintain its vigour. A must-have for every gardening enthusiast!
