The Cydonia oblonga ‘Leskovacz’ is a beautiful quince tree known for its large, apple-shaped fruits and graceful appearance. The fruits have a greenish-yellow to yellow skin and are about 10 cm tall. Although not edible raw, these quinces are widely used in cooking for making jam, jelly, pie filling and other culinary applications. Moreover, the fruits are also ideal as natural decoration indoors.
In May and June, ‘Leskovacz’ blooms with beautiful, fragrant white-pink flowers, which are not only attractive but also attract bees and butterflies to the garden. The fruits ripen in October and can then be harvested. This tree is hardy, loses its leaves in autumn, and is resistant to common diseases such as mildew.
The tree grows slowly and has a broad, rounded crown, making it suitable for both small and larger gardens. Its leaves are olive green, turning to a striking yellow in autumn. With its robust character and attractive shape, this quince is an excellent choice for garden lovers. ‘Leskovacz’ gives a regular and good harvest even at a young age and is known for its slightly greater winter hardiness compared to other varieties.
Location and care:
The tree grows best in a sunny spot in well-drained soil. Thanks to its moderate growth rate, it is easy to maintain and ideal for smaller gardens.
