Cydonia oblonga Quince Ma <8mm planting material

Cydonia oblonga 'Queen MA' is a semi-vigorous quince rootstock known for its reliability and versatility. This rootstock is more vigorous than both MC and Adams and offers excellent results in pear orchards with fertile soils.

Key features:
Growth Vigor: Semi-vigorous, ideal for medium to larger trees.
Suitability: Perfect for trees with a final height of 3-4 metres, depending on the pruning shape and cultivation method.
Fruit size and yield: Early production with consistently large, high quality fruits.
Applications:
Soil types: Suitable for fertile soils, but less tolerant of chalky or dry conditions.
Cultivation systems: Ideal for half-standards and espalier shapes such as fan shapes (height up to 2.5 metres with intensive training).

Advantages:
Historical Reliability: Developed at the East Malling Research Station as one of the first semi-dwarf rootstocks for pears.
Flexibility: Suitable for various cultivation styles and orchard systems.
Sustainability: Provides a good balance between growth vigour and productivity.
