Immediate results and production
These ‘old’ apple trees provide instant mature appearance, structure and yield in the garden; trees in spacious pots, ready to be planted immediately.
The Malus domestica ‘Ecolette’ is a modern apple variety known for its natural resistance to scabies and its fresh-sweet, juicy taste. The apples are firm, aromatic and ideal for fresh use, but also suitable for light preparations such as juices or salads. This old apple tree is a mature specimen of about 2 metres high, grown in a 45 litre pot at rootstock M9. The M9 rootstock provides a compact growth, a well-controlled crown and a rapid fruit production.
In spring, the Ecolette blooms richly with soft pink to white flowers that attract many bees. Harvesting takes place in the late summer to early autumn, when the apples turn warm red-green and develop their distinctive fresh flavour. The variety is self-pollinating, but carries more with the presence of varieties such as ‘Elstar’, ‘Santana’ or ‘Gala’.
The tree is hardy, well adapted to the Dutch climate and grows best on a sunny, fertile and well-drained soil. The compact growth of the M9 rootstock makes this variety ideal for smaller gardens or for growers looking for a tree that remains uncluttered but still has a mature appearance.
For safe transport, these heavy trees are shipped on a pallet.
