Ribes rubrum 'Rovada' red currant, 3 litre pot

The Ribes rubrum ‘Rovada’ redcurrant is a fruit shrub that adds edible fruit and extra variety to your garden. The shrub is suitable for an edible border, vegetable garden, small orchard or, depending on the variety, a spacious pot. ‘Rovada’ is one of the best redcurrant varieties currently available. ‘Rovada’ ripens late (late July/early August) and produces long clusters of glossy red berries. This shrub bears fruit on both one-year-old and two-year-old wood. We recommend protecting the plants from birds once the berries are ripe. This robust plant is supplied in a 3-litre pot.

Fruit bushes take up relatively little space and are easy to combine with other berries, herbs and perennials. Their blossoms attract insects in the spring, and later in the season the fruit can be eaten fresh or used in cooking.

Location and care:

Redcurrants thrive in full sun and partial shade, in nutrient-rich, well-drained soil. Water them more frequently during dry spells. By removing a few old branches at the base each year, the bush remains open and plenty of young fruiting branches will develop.

Plants and delivery:

The plant is supplied in a nursery pot of approximately 3 litres. The delivery height stated is approximate and is measured including the pot.

Make the planting hole large enough, plant the plant at roughly the same depth as in the nursery pot, and water generously after planting. In hot or dry weather, it is important to water extra until the plant has become well established.
