Sorbaria sorbifolia 'Sem', Rowan crabapple, 3 litre pot

Sorbaria sorbifolia ‘Sem’, also known as Rowan spirea ‘Sem’, is a compact, striking ornamental shrub with beautiful pinnate foliage that changes colour throughout the season. In spring, the plant sprouts young leaves in a warm bronze shade, which then turn a fresh green in summer and take on a brilliant orange-red glow in autumn.

This shrub grows into a compact shape, reaching a height of approximately 1 to 1.5 metres high and does not produce spreading root runners like some other Sorbaria varieties. This makes ‘Sem’ particularly suitable for smaller gardens, borders, or even as a pot plant on the balcony or terrace. This plant also looks lovely next to a pond.

In the summer, usually in July and August, ‘Sem’ flourishes with light-hearted cream-white flower panicles which elegantly extend above the foliage. The combination of colour, foliage texture and flowers makes this plant a real eye-catcher in the garden.

‘Sem’ is very hardy, grows in almost any well-drained garden soil and thrives in both full sun and partial shade. A low-maintenance, non-invasive ornamental shrub that adds colour and texture to any garden.
