This set of 4 Aronia prunifolia ‘Viking’ consists of strong fruit bushes known for their healthy berries and reliable growth. In spring, the plant blooms with light white-pink, fragrant flowers. Later in the season, dark purple to almost black berries develop.
The berries have a strong, slightly tart flavour and are often made into juice, jam or jelly. They contain many nutrients and antioxidants. In addition, the fruits are also liked by birds.

About Aronia prunifolia ‘Viking’ (black chokeberry)
‘Viking’ grows into a medium-sized, well-branched shrub with a height of about 1.5 to 2 metres. It flowers in May with small, pale pink to white flowers. After flowering, the dark berries appear and ripen in late summer.
In autumn, the leaves turn to a combination of yellow, red and purple, making the shrub attractive beyond the harvest period. Aronia ‘Viking’ is self-pollinating and therefore also produces fruit without other varieties around.
Location and care
Aronia prunifolia grows best in a sunny to semi-shaded spot in well-drained soil. Overly heavy soils, such as compact clay or loess, are less well tolerated. In spring, maintenance pruning can be carried out by removing older or dried-out branches to give new shoots sufficient space.
