The Psidium cattleianum ‘Yellow’, also known as Yellow Strawberry Guava or Yellow Strawberry Guava, is a rare, exotic fruit plant with a striking, tropical appearance. Originally from Central and South America, this evergreen shrub or small tree is distinguished by its bright yellow fruit and delicious, floral aroma. It is loved by lovers of unusual fruits thanks to its compact growth, rapid fruit formation and delicate flavour.

The ‘Yellow’ strawberry guava forms white, fragrant flowers with long stamens in spring (May-June). From these develop round, yellow-coloured fruits about 3 cm in size. They ripen from green to golden yellow and stand out among the glossy dark-green leaves. The flesh is juicy, white to cream in colour, with a sweet flavour reminiscent of strawberry and rose, with a slight citrusy freshness. The fruits can be eaten fresh, but are also excellent for jams, desserts, fruit juices or tropical cocktails.

The Psidium cattleianum ‘Yellow’ is self-pollinating and bears its first fruit within 1-2 years of planting. It grows compact and bushy, with a smooth, cinnamon-brown stem, and reaches a height of 2-3 metres. This plant likes a sunny, warm location and does not tolerate frost. In the winter months, it best overwinters frost-free, e.g. in a conservatory or veranda at a temperature of at least 5 °C.
