Want to grow your own pistachios? This set combines the female Pistacia vera ‘Kerman’ and the indispensable pollinating male Pistacia vera ‘Peeter’. Together they form a crisp duo: elegant, graceful trees with egg-shaped leaves, whose female tree will bear real pistachios!
Why choose this Pistacia vera set?
Complete pollinator couple: female Kerman gives notes, male Peeter provides pollen
Slim, graceful structure: beautiful in pot or as a solitary in the garden, with attractive fresh-green leaves
Resists drought and winter: ideal in zones 7-11, grows on poor, well-drained soils and maintains productivity during periods of heat or cold
Decorative and edible: combines ornamental value with high nut yield within a few years
Flowering & fruiting
In spring, the trees bloom with small inconspicuous flowers: the male Peeter offers pollen to the female Kerman, which develops pistachios in autumn. Mind you, it may take the Pistachio several years to bear its first fruit, but after that there will be rich rewards for your patience.
Growth & care
Give both plants a sunny spot with well-drained soil. They are drought-tolerant, but regular watering is recommended during growing periods. Do not use wet or poorly permeable soil - pistachio dislikes constantly wet roots. Prune minimally; shape or length maintenance can be done at dormancy.
